Document Description
Upgrade a non-ADA compliant restroom at the Peak Area in Mt. Tamalpais State Park to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, California Title 24 of the California Building Code. The project will:
- Expand north end wall at two locations to enlarge the building to provide one accessible stall for each (men's and women's) side. May require the removal of a section of roof to install structural support for the new end walls;
- Install ADA compliant toilet; grab bars; sink and required accessories. As many components as possible will be reused;
- Replace existing, with new metal frames and doors;
- Install a new "hi-low" drinking fountain on the south end of the building exterior. The existing concrete walkway will be widened approximately 4 feet for accessibility compliance.
- District will provide portable toilets during construction and no construction work will occur on the weekend.
Project protects public safety, supports continued use and maintenance and provides ADA accessibility.
