                Document Description

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) proposes to replace the packing on the turnout valve and make repairs to the motor operator at Service Connection OC-44A. At Service Connection OC-44B, Metropolitan proposes to repair small leaks on the recirculating line and sample line valves. In order to complete repairs, Metropolitan will dewater the Irvine Ranch Water District's San Joaquin Reservoir outlet line and a portion of Mesa Consolidated Water District's line; treated water will be dechlorinated and discharged into a natural drainage. Metropolitan also proposes to install temporary influent acid storage and feed systems at the Diemer and Weymouth plants to reduce the amount of sludge produced by the water treatment process. At the Diemer Plant, the tanks and pump will be located in the existing chlorine shed and chemical trucks will offload at the existing chemical unloading pad. At the Weymouth Plant, the tanks and pump will be located in a containment area near the point of injection east of the reservoir. All storage and unloading will be properly contained and designed for 93 percent sulfuric acid.
