Document Description
This project involves erecting a temporary soft camp just south of Lake Sutherland on property owned by the City of San Diego Water Department. The camp will be operated by the City's Family Justice Center and is designated to provide an outdoor experience for children who are victims of violence and child abuse. The camp will consist of up to seven tents placed on wooden platforms set in a semi-circle around an activity ramada. A small area, less than 0.1 acre, will be mowed around the tents and along the along two walking trails. Fifteen campers and five adult supervisors will spend two nights and three days at the camp, involved in hiking, fishing, water sports, music lessons, arts and crafts, and group counseling sessions. Camp Hope will operate Monday through Friday during the summer months. At the end of the summer, the camp will be dismantled until the next season.
