Description: The City of Monterey proposes a new City General Plan. The purpose of a General Plan is to provide a comprehensive, long-term plan for physical development under its jurisdiction. The City's General Plan contains the required elements: land use, circulation, housing, conservation, open space, safety and noise. In addition, the City is continuing its long tradition of having optional elements - urban design, economic, social, historic preservation and public facilities. The housing element was updated in advance of the General Plan due to State-mandated timelines.
