- The proposed Project is the approval of a Closure Plan of a hazardous waste treatment and storage facility owned and operated by Exide Technologies, Inc., a secondary lead smelter. Exide would permanently close the facility and implement a DTSC approved Closure Plan that would include dismantling operations and remediating contamination at the facility. The Closure Plan outlines a multi-year approach for removal and decontamination of contaminated equipment, structures, and soils at the site in three phases. The proposed project assumes compliance with a number of regulatory actions aimed at reducing environmental hazards.
